Indiana Black Expo in the 1970's
In the summer of 1971, an inaugural event emerged in the State of Indiana that would continue to grow in the hearts and minds of citizens for years to come. The turbulent 60's provided an uncertain backdrop for an experiment to showcase the social, cultural and religious achievements of blacks in Indiana. A three- day celebration was created, held at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in the Manufacturers Building and Coliseum, attracting over 50,000 interested individuals and groups who chose to become a part of the legacy called Indiana Black Expo.
