2009 YVI Application
IBE’s flagship program, the Youth Video Institute (YVI), provides hands-on training in the fields of television and video production, computer animation/graphics, and broadcast journalism/on-air talent. Upon completion of basic and intermediate training, students ages 13-19 showcase what they have learned through various productions.
One such production is “360 Degrees”–a news magazine style show that explores youth issues. This 30-minute program is totally written, produced, directed and edited by YVI students and airs weekly on the Education Access Channels.
This program allows students to work behind the scenes, using various equipment. It not only provides them with valuable training but also involves them in worthwhile projects that impact their communities and peers.
